In 2005, two young entrepreneurs set out to build the agency of the future.

Gregory Passaretti
Founding Partner

Hockey fanatic. Beach bum. Golf pro. The G in BGB. As one of two managing partners, Greg oversees client business operations. With a professional background that spans product marketing, promotional advertising, and medical communications, his experience includes the strategic development of marketing communications across a wide variety of therapeutic categories, including oncology, hematology, CV/metabolic disorders, immunology, respiratory diseases, virology, and neurology.

From pipeline commercialization to launch planning to life cycle management, Greg has supported brands in mature and competitive markets—as well as brands that have defined and established new categories and standards of care. His ongoing goal is to ensure that BGB continues to deliver top-notch strategic solutions and compelling creative execution.

Before co-founding BGB Group 18 years ago, Greg was director of client services at Saatchi & Saatchi healthcare. He gained his initial professional experience in Quebec, Canada, where he worked with STA HealthCare Communications. He earned his master of business administration degree from Arizona State University in Phoenix, then completed the MBA Marketing Leadership program at Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton, New Jersey.

Brendon Phalen
MD
Founding Partner

As managing partner and B of BGB, Brendon oversees a dedicated team of strategists, medical directors, and medical writers with advanced degrees in science. Brendon is a board-certified internist and a definite science geek himself.

His experience in healthcare communications is broad, including pipeline and early asset commercialization, prelaunch strategy and disease awareness campaigns, launch readiness and execution, in-line marketing and competitive response, and ongoing life cycle management for both US and global clients.

Brendon has deep expertise in HCP customer engagement from his clinical experience and through leading teams on a multitude of pharma engagements, including thought leader advisory board moderation, customer insight mining, and HCP advocacy development. He has worked extensively with clients to develop scientific narratives and message platforms as the foundation for both clear and concise disease education, as well as compelling clinical value stories for branded communications.

Brendon received his medical degree and master of business administration from the University of Chicago, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He’s a Starbucks lover and globe-trotter based in Westhampton.

Teresa Day

Chief Operating Officer & Managing Director, Client Services

Most would say Teresa is the glue that keeps the BGB Group engine running. As employee number 54 back in 2010, she has always been a hands-on leader going from managing cross-function workflow to an expanded role translating BGB’s vision and strategy into focused operational teams that lead client business and lead it well.  

A self-proclaimed science nerd, Teresa also flexes her creative side. She uses this balance to guide her leadership style and the BGB employee experience and to deliver exceptional client work.

Kit Kempler
Chief People Officer

As BGB’s Chief People Officer, Kit brings her extensive knowledge of all things human to help craft and manage the employee experience at BGB. With over two decades of experience leading Human Resource departments, she worked primarily in entertainment at Showtime Networks Inc., CBS, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, before entering the healthcare world with CDM in 2007.

She is known for wowing and wooing clients and colleagues alike with her interpersonal and organizational skills, and has been hailed by former coworkers as the most valuable and strategic HR generalist to ever pass through their organizations. Her extensive breadth of knowledge, impeccable professionalism, and tremendous follow-through make her an ideal functional leader, but it’s Kit’s empathy, ear, and earnestness that elevates her into the Human Resources Hall of Fame status.

Adam Siers
Executive Creative Director

Our laid back yet no nonsense ECD of BGB Group, Adam Siers is an award-winning copywriter and creative director, as well as an experienced brand strategist overseeing all creative endeavors across the agency.

With over a decade of team management experience, he’s a proven agency leader with more than 20 years of experience in brand voice, content, and campaign development, demonstrating excellence across digital and traditional media. Not only is his category experience diverse, he’s worked on campaigns touching every audience in healthcare, as well as general consumer.

Cali Howitt

EVP, MEDICAL DIRECTOR, MEDICAL STRATEGY AND SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS

A globe-trotter, and truth teller, Cali brings us much more than her extensive medical strategy experience. She’s a skilled leader in all things science and team building. She is an expert in a wide range of therapeutic areas and content development, publications, and strategic guidance. Since joining the agency in 2011, she’s served as the medical strategic lead across many small to large high-science brands and portfolios.  

Cali attended Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Cornell University, in New York, where she received a PhD in molecular and cellular biology. All about the thoughtful details, she’s a master hostess and foodie and loves to pair delicious travel-inspired food with equally beautiful tableware.

Priyanka Patel
PharmD
EVP, MEDICAL DIRECTOR, MEDICAL STRATEGY AND SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS

In her over thirteen years at BGB Group, Priyanka has been involved in developing scientific content and providing strategic direction for numerous clients, products, and projects. She has partnered with cross-functional teams to launch 10 products in countless indications across worldwide markets including the Americas, the EU, and Asia-Pacific.

A team builder extraordinaire, Priyanka currently leads a medical team of around 40 highly driven individuals critical to BGB’s success. Prior to joining us, Priyanka worked as a retail pharmacist and earned her doctor of pharmacy from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University. She is a budding home chef.

Julie Yoon
EVP, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Julie joins BGB after a long tenure on the leadership team at The Bloc. As an industry veteran, she brings over 25 years of experience collaborating with her client partners to achieve transformational change in the healthcare industry. She has Global and US prelaunch-to-launch experience leading teams in the therapeutic areas of respiratory, infectious, and rare diseases as well as neurology and oncology. Her most recent responsibilities included leading her team through an integrated HCP and patient launch in the rare CV disease and oncology spaces.

When asked to describe Julie—a self-proclaimed marathon enthusiast, bourbon lover, and night owl—her colleagues and clients said she sets high expectations and always strives to exceed them. This drive has seen her through partnerships with blockbuster brands. Her experience spans a wide therapeutic range, with a focus on brands that truly make a difference in both US and Global markets.

Lila Shah Wright
EVP, MANAGING DIRECTOR

An indoor rowing and yoga enthusiast, Lila also has an affinity for revitalizing brands facing new entrants or market challenges. She is skilled in prelaunch market-shaping strategies, development of data scenarios with an eye towards a competitive advantage for the brands she is engaged on, preparing for new market entrants and multi-indication launches. Lila has experience across HCP promotional and medical education for a large number of high science brands across multiple therapeutic categories.

She began her early career as a bench scientist, testing combinations of drugs on multi-drug resistant TB and publishing two abstracts in the American Journal of Microbiology. Lila is proud of her track record of helping her clients grow brands and helping her teams flourish.


Susan Duffy
EVP, Managing Director

A collaborator and cheerleader coming to BGB with over 20 years of integrated healthcare marketing experience, Susan is a purpose-driven communications leader. She has helped shape the stories and creative expressions of noteworthy, blockbuster, and specialty brands, while constantly navigating complex portfolios to maximize value for each asset.  

Susan started her career in consumer advertising and caught the healthcare bug when she launched an award-winning DTC campaign for an allergy medication. She never looked back and dove into the HCP side. She is humbled by the advancements she has witnessed in oncology during the past 20 years.

Fred Bennett
Chief Digital Officer

You can often find Fred turning an intersection from business challenge to unique solution, demonstrating how innovation and technology can play a key role in future-proofing leading pharmaceutical organizations. He would know, having led digital transformation at many of them.  

With experience spanning complex Fortune 50 companies and nimble entrepreneurial settings, Fred has created new organizational capabilities, developed and implemented compelling strategies, and built high-performance teams. Fred is focused on solving customer needs, creating value, and developing competitive advantage for organizations. A thought leader and frequent speaker at digital marketing industry events, Fred has been named a Digital Health Scholar by the Digital Health Coalition and is active in other leading industry groups.

Lori O’Neill

EVP, MARKET ACCESS & PAYER MARKETING

An avid cyclist, pro skier, and industry veteran with 20+ years of leading market access and payer marketing teams, Lori is a strategic consultant at BGB, arming her teams with insider knowledge.  

She began her early career in the NIH General Clinical Research Centers program running bench to bedside clinical trials. Since then, she has gained over 25 years of commercialization, market access, and payer expertise. Lori is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator by training, as well as an advocate for global health initiatives.

Alex Thompson
EVP, MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR

Alex has more than 20 years of client services experience in healthcare communications, partnering with clients large and small working across HCP, patients, and payer customers. He has spearheaded business across a breadth of therapeutic categories.

Alex has significant Global and US launch experience across a wide range of disease areas including blockbuster brands.  When Alex isn’t at his desk, he can be found outside in his yard manicuring his lawn or tending to his plants – all labors of love.

Piera Andel
EVP, MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR

Those who know Piera well will describe her as to the point with a big heart.  She uses both of these characteristics to continue to grow her track record for organically growing business, delivering exceptional client service and fostering strong teams along the way.  

On her watch, brands have achieved #1 world’s most prescribed pharmaceutical brand status. Born in Italy, she is not only fluent in Italian, it was her first language.  When she is not working, Piera enjoys reading murder mysteries, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends—mostly cooking and eating alla Siciliana.

Jim Spencer
Chief Finance Officer

Jim comes to BGB with over 20 years of experience leading finance, accounting, information technology, and business development functions at companies both large and small. He most recently worked with HealthPRO Heritage, Fedbid, Inc., and iBiquity Digital Corporation. His background includes specific healthcare experience leading and advising high-growth companies across all sectors of healthcare and has specific media and technology industry expertise in the digital media sector.

As BGB continues its path of growth and expands its capabilities, Jim brings leadership and experience that helps guide the growth of our infrastructure and systems. In his role as CFO, he works with the Finance, Business Operations, and IT departments to ensure BGB fulfills its day-to-day operational goals, including expense management, revenue recognition, and accounting. He leads the identification and integration of new finance systems that automate processes and workflows, helping deliver critical information in a more accurate and timely fashion.
